View Case StudyWith different types of qualifications and sector specialisms, it’s important your Accountant suits your needs. As a smaller and friendly chartered practice, HTB Accountants specialise in providing a complete range of accountancy services that are tailored for small and medium-sized businesses.
Forming positive, lasting relationships with our clients is at the heart of what we do, and we take a personal interest in every business we work alongside. You’ll soon discover that your business is important to us, and you won’t feel like a small fish in a big pond!
Anyone in the UK can give themselves the title of Accountant; this is why you should always check that your Accountant is suitably qualified and a member of a relevant professional body. The main accountancy bodies include the Institute of Chartered Accountants (either ICAEW or ICAS) or the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA).
Should something go wrong, you can raise a complaint to these bodies and, if it is upheld, they will hold the member to account in the event of bad practice. In such circumstances, you’ll be afforded some protection. Harvey, Telford & Bates is a member of ICAEW; HTB Accountants Directors, Danielle Harvey and Amy Telford, are both qualified Chartered Accountants and members of ICAEW.
After you’ve checked all the basics in terms of qualifications, specialisms, and fees, it is still really important that you choose a Chartered Accountancy firm you are comfortable with.
Depending on your requirements, your account will be managed by one of our Directors, Danielle Harvey or Amy Telford.
The next area to look at is fees. How much does the accountant charge? Do they offer fixed fees, or do they charge by the hour?
Fees will be discussed with you in advance, before any work is undertaken – this way you won’t get a nasty surprise when the invoice arrives and you will be fully aware of the work we will be completing for you, and the overall cost you can expect.
The business, formerly known as Bates & Co, was originally founded by Brian Bates in 1990. Danielle Harvey and Amy Telford later bought the business, now Harvey Telford & Bates, from Brian in 2016. Since then, HTB Accountants has been working with small to medium sized businesses across Shropshire, in addition to individuals, to provide personal and business accountancy services.
